The publication provokes investigation into the cultural and intellectual issues surrounding design and includes theoretical and critical articles by professional and academic contributors, extensive book and exhibition reviews, and visual sequences. Special issues edited by guests address specific topics, such as design history, human-computer interface, service design, organization design, design for development and product design methodology.
The phrase “Form Follows Function” is one of the pillars of functionalist design and “Form Follows Friction” is my counterpoint on this topic. Originally created as a typographic poster, printed by Gráfica Fidalga in São Paulo, this version for the cover of Design Issues is printed in black and gold. Attached are two preliminary designs for the same cover.
